
[OTTAWA/CALGARY]: Alberta-based Canadian UAVs (CUAVs) today announced its expansion east with the opening of new office in Ottawa and establishment of afull-time presence to better serve national defence and civilian security stakeholders.
Leveraging Invest Ottawa’s Area XO test and development site, CUAV’s proprietary Detect and Avoidance (DAA) products, and its emerging Counter UAS (C-UAS) capability will be accessible to military and civilian interests for demonstration and on-going collaborative research.
“CUAVs is a national strategic partner to our National Defence Department, and a key supplier of products and services to many industrial and security sectors. Additionally, we support civilian policing services throughout North America with unique DAA and Drone-as-First-Responder (DFR) products,” said Sean Greenwood, CEO.
“We deliver unique products and services that ensure security requirements are met immediately and affordably. Our expansion to the National Capital Region allows us to directly integrate with the Ottawa technology ecosystem and key federal departments.”
CUAVs is the only Canadian company that holds regulatory authorizations with Transport Canada and FAA to enable Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS). This unique administrative licensing profile allows CUAVs to execute missions where others simply cannot.
Today’s announcement included the naming of Michael Barton as CUAV’s representative in the NCR.
Mr. Barton has more than 25-years in the aerospace and defence industry having previously worked with Lockheed Martin Canada in a lead public affairs capacity, inaddition to providing strategic government relations and advocacy support for many Canadian and international defence corporations.
